Find the story that matters to the reader
A completed project is a starting point, but a useful story explains why it matters. A difficult delivery constraint, a documented community benefit or an evidence-based industry observation may interest a relevant editor. We assess the angle before preparing a campaign.
| Story type | Evidence needed | Potential audience |
|---|---|---|
| Project case study | Approved brief, delivery role, challenges and outcome | Sector or regional readers |
| Expert commentary | Named qualified contributor and first-hand experience | Trade press and specialist publications |
| Original insight | Reliable data, methodology and appropriate permissions | Readers affected by the finding |
| Community contribution | Documented activity and approved partner details | Local media and community stakeholders |
| Business milestone | Verified facts and a clear reason it matters | Relevant industry audiences |
Choose the audience before the media list
Residential projects may suit regional or home-improvement coverage. Specialist packages may suit trade publications. Commercial stories need a clear connection to the sectors and decision-makers you want to reach.
Website PR pages and outreach are not the same as a tender strategy. Coverage can support awareness and credibility; it does not secure procurement approval or an awarded contract.
Match the angle to your part of construction
| Business | Possible angle | Material to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Residential builder | How a completed renovation answered an unusual client brief | Client approval, comparable photographs and an account of your work |
| Commercial contractor | How a refurbishment was phased around an occupied site | Approved programme details, delivery constraints and client commentary |
| Specialist subcontractor | A documented solution within a larger project | Your precise package, technical contributor and partner credits |
| Construction business with original data | A useful finding from its own project records | Source records, sample size, time period and limitations |
These are campaign ideas to assess, not claims about campaigns we have delivered. The strongest brief starts with evidence you already hold and a clear reason the intended reader would care.
Digital PR, press releases and social media
Digital PR centres on developing credible stories and approaching relevant external publications. A press release is one possible format. A project case study on your own website provides supporting detail, while LinkedIn or other social posts can share an approved story with your existing audience.
We agree which of those activities the campaign includes. Routine social media management, crisis communications, public consultation and ongoing corporate press-office support require their own brief and are not included automatically.
Build the story from approved facts
We gather the brief, check the available evidence, prepare the angle and agree quotations and assets with you. Credit designers, clients, main contractors and subcontractors accurately. Confirm what can be published before discussing values, programmes or client identities.
Claims about safety, environmental performance or savings need specific support. Avoid broad claims based only on intentions. Technical commentary should come from a suitably knowledgeable person and reflect their actual expertise.
From preparation to outreach and reporting
- Agree the audience, objective and campaign scope.
- Collect original evidence and identify a credible angle.
- Prepare approved copy, comments and assets.
- Approach relevant editors and publications.
- Record responses, coverage, links and available referral activity.
Editors decide whether to publish, how to frame a story and whether to include a link. Brand mentions and links are reported separately. Paid advertorial or sponsored distribution, if considered, must be separately identified and agreed.
Measure coverage against the communications goal
Reporting identifies published coverage, the publication and audience, the messages included, brand mentions and any links. Where measurement is available, we also review referral visits and subsequent enquiries. Outreach sent, published coverage and commercial results remain separate measures.
A rise in social reach does not on its own establish more qualified construction enquiries. Agree whether the campaign is intended to introduce a capability, support a sector position or bring attention to a particular project, then assess the evidence against that objective.
Connect coverage to a useful website
Keep supporting project pages and capability information clear so readers can assess the business after seeing a story. Link building focuses on relevant references and destinations; Digital PR can have broader awareness and reputation goals. Both benefit from sound website foundations.
Digital PR: a tailored campaign proposal
Pricing depends on the story, research, asset requirements, outreach and reporting. We agree deliverables before work begins. New photography, video, original research, event support and extensive production are separately scoped where required.
