AI SEO for window cleaning companies starts with clear facts: the work you actually do, the areas you genuinely serve, available cleaning frequencies, how quotations work and evidence from real customers. Make those facts accessible and check how AI-assisted search represents them.
GEO and AEO are overlapping marketing terms for discovery in generated answers. For a window cleaner, the commercial goal remains suitable enquiries and paid repeat customers. A citation, a chatbot conversation and a booked first clean are different outcomes.
What AI discovery means for a window cleaner
A homeowner might ask an assistant to compare regular cleaners, explain first-clean charges or find a local provider. A facilities manager might research commercial scope and survey requirements. The answer can cite general advice without recommending any particular company.
| Activity | Purpose | Useful outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Local and organic SEO | Help people find relevant service and area pages | Suitable organic enquiries |
| AI search visibility | Check discovery, mentions, accuracy and citations | Accurate representation and identifiable enquiries |
| Google or Meta advertising | Pay to reach relevant prospects | Qualified paid opportunities and customer outcomes |
| AI-assisted writing | Help draft from approved business facts | Accurate reviewed content |
| Quoting or chat automation | Help a website visitor take a next step | Suitable enquiries, escalation and confirmed bookings |
| Round-management software | Support operational scheduling and records | Completed work, payments and actual retention |
Do not assume every AI product uses the same index, sources or local signals. Record the product and whether search occurred. Repeating a claim in an AI summary does not verify it, and a search engine’s Business Profile information should not be treated as the universal source for every assistant.
24 buyer prompts to research across the customer journey
TOFU means researching the need, MOFU means comparing options and BOFU means choosing a provider. These examples are a suggested testing set, not keyword-volume estimates. Replace brackets with genuine service context and actual operating areas; do not use private customer addresses.

| TOFU: researching | MOFU: comparing | BOFU: choosing |
|---|---|---|
| What should I check before joining a regular window-cleaning round? | How do I compare four-weekly and eight-weekly window-cleaning proposals and their actual costs? | Find window cleaners serving [town] who explain their regular cleaning scope and booking process. |

Access and property suitability
| TOFU: researching | MOFU: comparing | BOFU: choosing |
|---|---|---|
| What access information should I prepare before requesting a window-cleaning quote? | What should I check in proposals for windows above an extension or with restricted access? | Which cleaners serving [town] explain how they assess [actual access issue] before confirming the work? |

Prices and payment
| TOFU: researching | MOFU: comparing | BOFU: choosing |
|---|---|---|
| What factors affect a window-cleaning quotation for my property? | How do I compare prices, visit intervals, first-clean charges and payment terms? | Find cleaners serving [town] who explain pricing assumptions and how to request a confirmed quote. |
Reliability and local fit
| TOFU: researching | MOFU: comparing | BOFU: choosing |
|---|---|---|
| What should I check about reminders, rain policies and missed visits before booking? | How do I compare local cleaners using actual reviews, service policies and coverage? | Which window cleaners serve [town or neighbourhood] for [actual service and frequency], and what sources support that? |
Choose a manageable baseline sample and repeat it consistently. Start neutral discovery tests without your company name. Test branded questions separately to check incorrect facts; asking an assistant about your own name does not establish discovery by a new customer.
An eight-step AI visibility plan for window cleaners
1. Record a baseline before changing the website
Use selected prompts covering the actual service, area and buyer stage. Record exact wording, product, mode, date, location context, response and cited URLs. Note absent AI answers and searches that return no useful shortlist as well as favourable results.
Keep recommendation, incidental mention and citation separate. Open the cited pages to see what claim they support. Do not treat one personalised answer or one testing run as market-wide visibility.
2. Approve one accurate business and service brief
Record the trading name, public contact channels, genuine coverage and actual services. Explain domestic and commercial work, first cleans, available intervals, included glass or frames, and genuine add-ons. Clarify who assesses access and confirms suitability.
Use your own approved policies for rain, reminders, missed visits, payment and re-cleans. Verify insurance and other credentials before publication. Do not infer high-rise capability, specialist stain removal or staff checks from a generic “fully professional” description.
3. Give services and round areas useful pages
Organise different buying needs into clear pages: regular domestic cleaning, commercial quotation work and genuine additional services. Explain what is included, exclusions, pricing factors and the next step. Consolidate overlapping synonyms rather than create a page for every phrase.
Area pages should reflect places you can serve and contain useful local information or relevant work. A copied page for every postcode does not establish local experience or profitable route density. Link genuine projects, service details and contact routes.
4. Publish approved evidence from real work
Use photographs you have permission to publish and describe the general area, property or site type, actual scope, method and outcome. A recurring domestic round and a commercial survey need different evidence. Avoid publishing private addresses or confidential contract details.
Label stock, illustrative and generated imagery. It must not pass as a completed clean. Dates should describe the work or substantive review, rather than imply that changing a timestamp establishes freshness or authority.
5. Keep local profiles and references accurate
Google’s business representation guidance calls for accurate identity, categories, location and service-area details. Use eligible profiles. A registered address is not automatically a customer-facing branch; keep private home addresses private where appropriate.
Review genuine directory, supplier and public business profiles for conflicting details. Choose relevant references customers can actually use. Memberships, badges and partnerships must be current and verifiable. Do not invent an office in each town or describe a paid placement as an independent endorsement.
Google’s review rules prohibit incentives, selective positive-review requests and requests for specific content. Invite honest feedback consistently. A keyword script, five-star quota or geotag formula is not a route to guaranteed recommendations.
6. Check access, indexing and truthful structured data
Google’s AI-feature guidance retains normal SEO foundations: supporting pages need indexing and snippet eligibility. It does not add a top-ten position, fixed answer length, special AI file or special schema requirement. Eligibility is not guaranteed inclusion.
Check crawl access, important text, internal links, canonicals, redirects and mobile usability. Ask the developer to diagnose actual restrictions in the host or CDN; do not remove protections indiscriminately.
OpenAI documents independent search and training controls. OAI-SearchBot serves search; GPTBot concerns potential training use. Review search access separately from training preferences and user-triggered visits. Access does not compel a citation.
Use valid LocalBusiness and Service vocabulary where it accurately describes the visible business and services. Check types and properties rather than copy a claimed trade-specific schema from an AI summary. Never insert a hidden private address, invented rating or service claim.
Structured data should match the page. Markup is not a direct feed that guarantees AI answers, rich results or stars. Useful FAQ text can answer customer questions without promising a special search display.
7. Answer recurring questions and earn relevant references
Explain the questions your team actually receives: how often cleaning is available, what the first clean involves, what is included, how access is arranged and how payment works. Give a concise useful answer near the heading, then the detail customers need.
Use actual approved pricing assumptions. If a visit is every eight weeks, do not label it monthly. Explain extra charges or assessment requirements honestly. Avoid unsupported universal statements about methods, safety, access or environmental performance.
Relevant supplier relationships, approved project coverage and local editorial contributions can help buyers verify the business. Confirm rights and external costs. Follow Google’s link policies for paid or sponsored links. Repeating a claim across agency-owned sites is not independent corroboration.
8. Repeat the checks and connect them to customer outcomes
Re-run the agreed prompt sample after substantive work and at a practical review interval. Record factual corrections, new cited sources and changes in the response alongside actual referrals and enquiries. Keep the sample consistent enough to compare.
A before-and-after change can suggest progress but does not isolate cause: models, search results and context can change. Keep a dated work log and distinguish observations from conclusions. Prioritise useful improvements even when no AI shortlist appears.
What the available window-cleaning evidence establishes
| Source or example | What it can show | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Local Ladder’s window-cleaner SEO guide | Sector discussion of services, rounds and local visibility | A measured external AI-recommendation or retention uplift |
| Clean Marketing’s published system | Advertising, quoting, booking, CRM and follow-up capabilities | That automation causes external AI citations |
| Squeegify’s quoting description | Customer-confirmed property inputs and operator pricing rules | A guaranteed final quote, operational suitability or AI-search ranking |
| Named website cases in our SEO comparison | Actual website delivery and launch foundations | A measured AI enquiry result without specific evidence |
| A brand’s AI visibility report | Observations within the report’s stated sample | Every buyer conversation or causally attributed sales growth |
Local Ladder’s guide discusses recurring work and local SEO. Its national keyword estimates should not be treated as unique people, available households in your patch or measured AI prompt demand.
Clean Marketing describes an integrated acquisition and booking system. Keep its ad, automation and annualised round-value evidence separate from external AI recommendations. Our Google Ads comparison explains the channel and customer-stage checks.
Use public reports as research leads and inspect methodology, prompt selection, product, dates and citations. A brand with a similar name may be a different business; verify the domain and actual service area before drawing conclusions.
AI quoting and follow-up are separate operational decisions
Squeegify describes suggesting a window count for customer confirmation and calculating estimates from the operator’s rules. This illustrates an on-site conversion workflow, rather than evidence that ChatGPT or Google recommends the operator.
Check how a proposed tool handles obscured windows, access, extensions, condition, minimum charges, frequency, VAT settings and genuine exclusions. An address or image cannot by itself confirm the full scope, access arrangements, crew capacity or final price. Keep a clear escalation route for uncertainty.
Agree sources, allowed claims and handover for any chatbot. It should not invent booking availability, policy exceptions or insurance cover. Test enquiry delivery and distinguish an acknowledgement from a confirmed appointment. Approve data handling, message costs, licences and exports.
AI can draft service explanations and replies from approved facts. The responsible person should review them before use. Do not manufacture reviews, testimonials, jobs, staff credentials or customer photographs to fill a content plan.
Measure visibility and retained work separately
| Record | What to capture | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Prompt test | Exact question, platform, mode, date and context | A reproducible observation, not all-market share |
| Mention and accuracy | Which company appeared and whether its facts are correct | Brand visibility and factual quality |
| Citation | Exact cited page and supported claim | Advice citation versus provider recommendation |
| Website referral | Identifiable source, landing page and relevant action | Only the traffic you can attribute |
| Reported discovery | Customer’s answer to how they found you | Useful self-report with possible recall limits |
| Customer progression | Suitable enquiry, booked and paid first clean, later paid visits | Commercial outcome distinct from a citation |
Google reports AI-feature traffic within Search Console’s Web data. That is not a complete separate AI-overview attribution dashboard. Combine available analytics and enquiry records without claiming to identify every AI-influenced customer.
Ask “How did you hear about us?” with an AI-search option where useful. Keep this separate from observed referral data. Some buyers research in an assistant and later contact directly, so neither source alone tells the whole journey.
Compare domestic cohorts by actual interval and area. £30 every eight weeks implies roughly £195 gross over a full year only if all visits happen and are paid; it is not £360 monthly-derived revenue. Deduct delivery and acquisition costs and record cancellations. A commercial survey, quote and contract award are separate milestones.
Report missing mentions and inaccurate claims as well as successes. No fixed prompt count, photo schedule, schema package or review target guarantees inclusion. Do not sell a small testing sample as a census of demand.
How Built for Local can help window cleaners
We can agree actual service and coverage pages, approved cleaning evidence, relevant authority work and a repeatable AI-answer research sample. The work should identify what will be implemented, published and reviewed, with clear access and approval responsibilities.
Website and ongoing local SEO is £499/month with no setup fee. BFL charges no VAT. The first 30 days are free within a three-service-month commitment. The following two monthly periods cost £499 each (£998 total), then the service continues at £499/month until cancelled under the terms.
The agreed launch includes core pages, up to ten service pages and a primary town plus up to five genuine nearby areas. Continuing work includes agreed content, local-profile support, internal links, technical SEO, hosting, maintenance and reporting. Suitable existing-site SEO starts from £499/month.
Authority management starts from £299/month plus approved external costs. Digital PR and AI visibility research need agreed deliverables and reporting; neither guarantees publication or recommendations.
Google Ads management is separately £499/month for media up to £2,000/month. Media is additional and paid directly to Google; higher spend needs a separate management quote. Facebook and Instagram management is £499/month plus media, with scope agreed. The free website-plan period does not make advertising management or media free.
Integrations, quoting tools, new photography, software and staffed enquiry handling need explicit agreement. Our portfolio shows wider trade website work, not measured window-cleaner AI acquisition results.
For an active partnership, we agree the trade and primary town and do not actively market a direct competitor in that combination. Website ownership transfers after the initial commitment and payment of outstanding fees, subject to platform and third-party licensing. Seven days’ cancellation notice applies under our terms. Hosting only is £29.99/month; maintenance including hosting is £50/month. Ongoing SEO ends with the main plan.
Research note: six supplied searches informed the topics. Primary platform and provider information was reviewed on 26 October 2026. Suggested prompts are our research framework, not measured demand. Provider capabilities and reported outcomes are not independently audited.
